 There's a nice mechanical drawing that John Davies created and posted in 1998
that gives the specs for building a bracket to go under the rear-most plastic
panel. I don't know if that's the source of his bracket.

I've got a copy and could send it out if needed.

Mike Coan mounted such a bracket (I don't know if he used the same template)
on the bike I bought from him. That bracket ties into the two side mounts
(for the stock bags and as passenger hand grips) and gives a solid mount for
a Givi top case or other luggage rack.
