I've seen the networks broken on the first day at a few GUADECs now. Please do plan to get the network working a day or two before you need it, even a day or two before you expect to have it ready. It's never as easy as you think it is. Something always goes wrong. The only way to have things ready on time is to plan to have them ready before time.
