Last year Ryan Gordon and Sam Lantinga, who both work at Valve and have a history of helping gaming on Linux (SDL, Loki software…) have been approached last year and while they weren't able to come, to showed interest for "next year" (so for GUADEC 2014). Rui and Christian were the ones that contacted them.
