Most years, GUADEC has four core days. This year it is three, and we are trying to fit the same amount of content into the schedule. Short of starting the day earlier or ending later, I'm not sure what we can do. We've already shaved the breaks down as much as possible, as well as having slightly shorter talk sessions than in previous years. The only suggestion I can think of is to review the format of the interns lightning talks session - encourage interns to double up where it makes sense to do so, and get them to rehearse short presentations. (Also, while everyone is extremely interested in seeing the interns lightning talks, it is difficult to pay attention to a session that is longer than 90 minutes, and some of the epic sessions we've had in the past haven't been a huge amount of fun by the end, so 90 minutes seems like a good limitation to me.)
