We actually use this technique in InformaCam as means of proof /
verification. When you first run InformaCam, you take 6 "random" or
"boring" photos as we call them, and those are submitted with the new
public key the device generates, linking your cryptographic identity
with your camera's sensor. You never have to provide your real name /
real life identity, but it does help (within the context and goals of
InformaCam) show that the same device took photos attributed to that source.

Also, it is important to know that it doesn't really work with video,
only still photos.
