Well, the standard OTR behavior is still supported, so that if you send a message and you have the opportunistic OTR setting enabled, then OTR will start. This is related to the UI feature that if you select a chat, it will attempt to start OTR even without sending a message at all. The problem is, it ended up feeling like spam to people on the other side who didn't have OTR capable apps.
