To address some security concerns with gradle and other Android tools, I'm
mentoring a Google Summer of Code project for Debian with Markus Koschany to
take a big leap forward in getting more Android tools into Debian (and
therefore into Ubuntu, Mint, etc.). We'll be mentoring two students,
Kai-Chung Yan and Komal Sukhani, who will be working full time on this over
the summer.

We need to package all this stuff in a way that makes sense to Android
developers and solves far more problems than it might create, so we want lots
of feedback on how people think this should be done, and any problems people
might foresee.

Additionally, I hope this work can serve as a reference for other packaging
systems, like Arch, Homebrew, MacPorts, etc.
