About DNS names and embedded ACME, that sounds like adding a ton of complexity. As a reminder, this is something happening in the F-Droid client app, not the server side.
I was thinking server-side for this portion. I agree it wouldn't be tenable for the client apps. Just something that should be considered for the traditional server deployment.
