A source of confusion sometimes occurs when users feel the need to be running
Gufw for their firewall to be active. This is untrue ! Keep in mind that these
applications are not firewalls, but rather configuration tools for ip tables.
These applications should be run only to configure your firewall. Once
configured, IP tables (the actual firewall) is active (at boot) without having
to run Gufw.
The really persistent firewall is iptables, the kernel firewall :D

Status in GUI for ufw: Won't Fix

Bug description:
The latest update of Gufw (version 9.04.2 for Ubuntu 9.04) has the ability to
have the program-icon in the menu next to the clock (in order to ensure that
the program is running) disappeared. Is therefore uncertain whether the
firewall is running.

Would be glad if the error was fixed so I know that the firewall is running.
