thanks for the prompt reply guys. it was as Emilio said. the service was not set to auto start or be enabled by default for arch. following Emilio's advice, along with the wiki gave me a better understanding.
systemctl status ufw ● ufw.service - CLI Netfilter Manager Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ufw.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled Active: active (exited) since Wed 2016-06-01 22:25:08 EDT; 3min 13s ago Process: 252 ExecStart=/usr/lib/ufw/ufw-init start (code=exited, status=0/SUCC Main PID: 252 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) CGroup: /system.slice/ufw.service as you can see it now auto starts =).. sorry for the troubles and thanks a bunch for all your help -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Gufw Developers, which is subscribed to Gufw. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1586863 Title: wont stay on Status in Gufw: Invalid Bug description: im using Manjaro which is arch based. UFW wont stay on across reboots. in contrast to other distros, i do not need to unlock it, it has never asked for that. true to its simplicity i just have to toggle status to enable/disable it. i am not sure if this is a natural behavior and its just supposed to be that way, but at the same time it doesnt seem very practical to have to turn it on manually every time i reboot. btw great little app, thanks for your work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gui-ufw/+bug/1586863/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~gufw-developers Post to : gufw-developers@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~gufw-developers More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
