The 18-year-old Englishman, who joined Arsenal at the age of nine, has dazzled in central midfield during his eight Premier League appearances for Arsène Wenger’s men this season. Wilshere said: “At this point in my career, when I’m only 18 years old and still learning so much about the game and myself, this is the perfect club, the perfect team-mates, the perfect fans, the perfect backroom staff and most importantly, the perfect manager to help continue that.” Wilshere, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Bolton, earned his first full England cap when he played for the national side in a friendly against Hungary in August. “To be offered a new contract means everything to me,” he added. “Arsenal has been like a second home for me and my family since I was nine years old.” Arsenal boss Wenger said: “Jack is a fantastic footballer with a huge amount of potential, and we have all seen with his performances so far that he is a very gifted player, who could be an extremely influential player at the top level of the game. “At still only 18 years of age, there is still so much more to come from him and we’re all excited by the fact that he will be an Arsenal player for years to come.” Meanwhile, the Arsenal manager played down expectations that injured midfielder Aaron Ramsey is close to a first team return for the Gunners. Ramsey, 19, has been out of action since fracturing his tibia and fibula against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium in February. “Aaron should be in full training next Friday [5 November],” added Wenger. “But then you have to give him at least a month with the reserve team.” Tottenham’s Gareth Bale relishing Inter Milan clash Posted: 01 Nov 2010 11:30 AM PDT Gareth Bale insists Tottenham have learnt from their defeat at the San Siro and is confident his side can put on a show against Inter Milan at White Hart Lane on Tuesday night. Spurs conceded four first-half goals in Milan a fortnight ago before Bale’s stunning second-half hat-trick helped restore some pride for Harry Redknapp’s men. Bale said: “In recent years we’ve made White Hart Lane a difficult place for teams to come to and we don’t want that to be any different against Inter. “We’ll go into it with a lot of confidence from the game in Milan, hopefully having 11 men throughout and hopefully not starting as poorly as we did. The Welsh international added: “We want to give it a go. They are the European champions, we want to test ourselves against the best and it doesn’t come much bigger than this. “Inter show the qualities that every top team shows. They keep the ball well and they’ve got world-class players. We’re fully aware of that. “But we have players who can do damage as well and they’ll have to worry about us as well.” The Italian champions travel to White Hart Lane fresh from their 1-0 victory against Genoa in Serie A while Spurs are looking to bounce from a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. Rafael van der Vaart and Tom Huddlestone are expected to be available for selection after the pair returned to training on Monday. Elsewhere, Redknapp has declared he will no longer take part in post-match television interviews if the FA punishes him over his outburst at referee Mark Clattenburg following Nani’s controversial goal at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Spurs boss said: “If you want me to come on and talk rubbish and say ‘it was a good decision and I’m quite happy with it’, then don’t bother getting me to come out after a game. “Am I supposed to come out after and say ‘it was a jolly good decision, I thought he handled it very well’? He added: “If they [the FA] want to make an issue of what I’ve said, then I’ll make some issues as well, don’t worry. Don’t expect me to come out on TV after a game anymore, ever. I won’t do it.” The FA say they will make a decision on whether to discipline Redknapp by the end of Tuesday.
