In pkgsrc, we use a different prefix (for 1.8):

GUILE_PREFIX=                   ${PREFIX}/guile/1.8
GNU_CONFIGURE_PREFIX=           ${GUILE_PREFIX}
BUILDLINK_PASSTHRU_DIRS+=       ${GUILE_PREFIX}
LDFLAGS+=                       ${COMPILER_RPATH_FLAG}${GUILE_PREFIX}/lib
