I will hopefully tonight post a proposal for - Leave grub-mkrescue and mformat as they are. Rather do the partition entry removal in the course of Guix ISO production. It will be windfall profit of my detailed proposal for creating ISOs with MBR partition table and Linux mountable ISO partition. Have a nice day :) Thomas
