Oh, indeed, sorry for the confusion. I think I got tricked by seeing the changelog for 1.17.2 under their releases/ directory (https://www.cairographics.org/releases/ChangeLog.cairo-1.17.2).
No worries! I was confused by that too, while I was working on cairo package.
