FWIW, I think that the documentation should not be written by the people
already overloaded with Infrastructure maintenance but the documentation
should be written by people offering their help.

Somehow, we have overloaded people that ask help, so we cannot
collectively answer: “Please do more work by writing documentation so we
can help you.” :-)

For sure, there is issues: knowledge bootstrap, history background,
etc. as said in [1].

Ok, let be concrete! My proposal:

1. A set of people commit for one or two months in order to write notes
and acquire skills about the Infrastructure.

   I volunteer! :-)

2. People who are maintaining the Infrastructure schedule time to answer
   the questions of #1.

For instance, we could imagine a weekly or bi-weekly “meeting” where #1
and #2 discuss from 30min to 1h about the various configuration files in
the various repositories. And these discussions are stored inside
notes.

The meetings could be scheduled on IRC or on some BigBlueButton.

This way, we start some skill transfer and collect materials. Then
depending how it goes, we will be able to structure some documentation.

The notes are the important part. :-) Because it initiates a virtual
circle. Somehow, it avoids the blank page syndrome. It’s rewarding
because it provides a concrete base. Etc.

WDYT? Who’s in?

Cheers,
simon
