Hi Guix,

Most of the time, this kind of command

    ./pre-inst-env guix lint PKG

  returns

source not archived on Software Heritage and missing from the
    Disarchive database

see for example "mupdf". To my understanding, this is due to the
‘url-fetch’ method used to fetch sources from a .tar.gz archive.

Is it preferable to switch to ‘git-fetch’ instead ? In my experience,
having sw backed up in sw heritage is a very good reason to git clone
code instead of downloading compressed files, unless the .tar.gz
includes any other benefit. Put otherwise, ‘git-fetch’ should be the
default, except if there is a good reason not to.

What do you think ?

C.
