Hi Guixers,

This week some more issues have been investigated with installing Guix
on foreign distros. We've also looked into support for generating
aarch64 Guix System VM and installer images.

Starting December 1st the major updates freeze is in effect.
This means packages with a lot of dependents should not be modified
on master and also no new grafts please. Because of this, we're creating
the next-master branch. All major updates should now go to it.
We will be periodically merging master into the next-master branch.
And the idea is to merge next-master into the master branch after the
release is done. Any package additions, fixes and security updates
should still go to the master branch.

We're also going to do the ungrafting next week, checking that the
ungrafting jobset has already built most packages.

We would like to also ask for help from you on the two following topics
that we won't fit into our schedule:
- Creating a foreign test for Fedora, let's align if you're interested
here on the mailing list.
- Getting release iso and qcow images smaller, see
https://codeberg.org/guix/guix/issues/938 for further discussion.

Have a great week,
Efraim, Noé, Rutherther

Thanks to our guests for this week:
