Born on September 26 1944 in Bizana, Transkei. Our mother Nomathamsanqa Mzaidume, a domestic science teacher, died when Winnie was only eight years old, and I was two, Winnie was the fourth of my parents� eight children, of whom only three others are still living: these are my sisters Mobantu Mniki, who works as a teacher and Nonyaniso Khumalo, who is a housewife. Winnie Mandela did her primary education in Bizana and then went on to Shawbury to complete high school. A Social Work diploma followed at the Jan Hofmeyer School in Johannesburg, and thereafter a BA (Political Science) with International Relations major at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. It was while working as the first black medical social worker at Baragwanath Hospital that she started to become politicized, I guess she started to realize the abject poverty under which most of our people were forced to live, the appalling conditions created by the inequalities of the system. My Sister�s involvement in the South African liberation struggle dates to the '50s. Her first detention was in 1958, and coincided with the mass arrests of women involved in the anti-pass campaign. At the time, she was the chairperson of the Orlando West branch of both the ANC and the ANCWL. In terms of her first banning order, received in 1962, she was restricted to Soweto. Five years later she was arrested in Cape Town on a visit to her ex-husband Nelson Mandela. She spent one month at the prison known as the Fort. In 1969 she became one of the first detainees under Section 6 of the notorious Terrorism Act. She was detained for 18 months in solitary confinement in the condemned cell at Pretoria Central before being charged under the Suppression of Communism Act. The famous "Trial of 22" took place in 1970. After initially being found guilty, Winnie and the other accused were discharged on appeal. Winnie spent till September 1975 in prison in Kroonstad, along with her good friend Dorothy Nyembe. At the time of her release she was on the last national executive committee of the original ANC Women's League, along with other legends of the women's struggle like Lilian Ngoyi, Florence Matomela and Frances Baard. After it was banned, along with the ANC, these women leaders tried to continue their work through the Federation of South African Women. In 1976, following her activities during the school uprising, she again served six months at "Number 4" (The Fort). On May 16 1977 she was exiled, taken directly from her prison cell, to Brandfort for nine years. Here her house was bombed twice and she was once again arrested for defying her restriction order and returning to Johannesburg. My Sister�s courage and leadership abilities have triumphed over years of political harassment severe personal pain and a wave of media controversy earned her the revere. You maybe aware that she is presently facing purported charges of fraud and theft amounting to US$100,000 allegedly aggravated by the her political outburst against President Thabo Mbeki which initially led to her trial in 2002. After been divorced by Mr. Mandela in 1996, it became worrisome to her admirals how such a woman of such resilience should be so neglected after her struggle for the freedom of Mr. Mandela Throughout most of her adult life, Winnie has had to endure a forced separation from her ex-husband ANC President Nelson Mandela, who spent 26 years of his life on Robben Island., Winnie Mandela's extraordinary life has been marked by a process of harassment from the regime and by constant separations from those she has loved, and with other charges, the torture, the banishment, the isolation under house arrest, the imprisonment, in 1991 she was convicted of kidnapping a 14-year-old boy (stompie Sepei) whom the Government claimed was allegedly killed by her bodyguards and there have been countless scandals, many of them around her financial affairs. The Scandal and speculations about her financial affairs are unfounded, much of her money that I have transferred to a Security and finance Company in The Netherlands following her arrest and prosecution were money donated to her from by charity organizations, sympathizers, admirers and well wishers, she advised me to secretly transfer it out of the Country to avoid it been confiscated by the Government, she said she preferred the money donated to homes of the motherless Babies, the disabled, churches and mosques, she however does not want the money hijacked by politicians for their selfish political appetite or desires. My Sister is still committed to the selfless, compassionate, humane, equality, just and fairness, which she has always cherished. My sister looks/care for an orphanage home in Pretoria, she urged me to ensure that the kids are still been cared for while she is jail, it is her opinion that a business person who similar affection could have claim to the money and profits accruing from the investment of this money would be directed for the care of the kids in her orphanage home here in South Africa as in elsewhere. This total sum of US$17.1 Million is in a Security and Finance Company in The Netherlands, my sister has asked me to transfer the money to a Bank account of a trusted person and who shall receive 25% of the total Money when the money is eventually transferred to his or her Bank account, I am prepared to meet with you in The Netherlands upon our agreement to have the money transferred to your account. But I must pre-empt the need to make this transaction top secret or confidential, information passed to the Government of my Country could further make things difficult for Winnie and our entire family.
