Konkan Daiz Yatra
A Mega Konkani Show in Mumbai
The oldest Konkani organization Konkani Bhasha Mandal which was started in the year 1939 by Konkani stalwarts like Shenoi Goem-bab, Bakibab Borkar, Prof. Armando Menezes, Dr. Sumitra Mangesh Katre is in its heels to prepare for a mega show to unite Konkani�s of all sects, dialects and religious background under one roof. This great show is named as Konkan Daiz Yatra in order to prepare for a pilgrimage that will pull together the rich Konkani treasure and makes an eye opener to every Konkani individual who is diverted from his roots with the forgetfulness of greatness that is within his mother tongue Konkani.
This mega show will be held on 23rd October 2004 at Shanmukhananda Hall, Mumbai which is sponsored by Smt. Grace Pinto, Director of Ryan Internatial, who is instrumental in suggesting Konkani Bhasha Mandal to hold such a mega gatherings of all sects of Konkani people.

The president of Konkani Bhasha Mandal Mr. P. N. Shanbhag and its very active general secretary Mr. J. B. Moraes are working day and night for this mega show. The managing committee of Bhasha Mandal consists of President emeritus Mr. S. V. Pikale, Vice president Mr. J. B. Sequiera, Chairman Mr. Pius Vaz, Joint Secretary Mr. S. S. Kodkani, Tresurer Mr. Lawrence D�Souza and Members Mr. Joe D�Souza, Mrs. Sheela Kolambkar, Mr. Leo Fernandes, Mr. Sean D�Souza, Mrs. Daisy Dias, Mr. S. F. X. Pereira, Mr. V. A. D�Souza, Mr. Rudolf Rebello and Mr. Ancy Paladka.
The managing committee has already formed an organising committee for the programme under the leadership of Papal Award winner industrialist Mr. Albert W. D�Souza, who will be the president of the organising committee.
The major part of the programme will be the Dance Ballet in Konkani by the international fame artist Fr. Charles Vas SVD and his team, which will be specially prepared for the occasion. It will be a top class dance ballet which will be digitally recorded and presented live on the stage that will give the birds eye view of all the culture and treasure that is hidden in different sects of Konkani people.
The members of the organising committee are as follows.

The organising committee has also formed some sub committees like Publicity Committee, Cultural committee, Souvenir committee and Audience Mobilising committee.
The publicity committee consists of Mr. Lawrence Coelho (Convenor), Mr. Henry D�Paula, Mr. Rons Bantwal, Mr. K. G. Seraf, Mr. Amiyar Bomboy, Mr. Joy Paladka and Mr. Ancy Paladka.
The Cultural committee consists of Mr. Lawrence D�Souza (Convenor), Mr. Ullas Kamath, Mr. Fausto V. D�Costa, Mr. Uday Mankikar, Mr. Leo Fernandes and Rev. Fr. Charles Vaz SVD as a special invitee.
The Souvenir committee consists of Mr. Albert W. D�Souza (Convenor), Mr. John D�Silva, Mr. P. N. Shanbhag, Mr. Vincent Mathias, Mr. Maxim Pinto, Mrs. Benedicta Rebello, Mr. Henry D�Silva, Mr. Vincent Castelino, Mr. Wilson Pinto and Mr. Sannu Monis Bolie.
Audience mobilisation committee consists of Mr. Henry D�Silva, Mr. Clement Lobo, Mrs. Daisy Dias, Mrs. Benedicta Rebello, Mrs. Wency B. Fernandes, Mr. Gregory Sequiera Niddodi, Mr. Philip Neri D�Souza, Mr. A. W. D�Souza, Mr. Steven D'Souza, Mrs. Monti Lasrado, Mr. William Fernandes, Mrs. Jayamala Danait, Mr. Alex D�Souza, Mr. Leo Fernandes, Mr. Lawrence D�Souza, Mr. Henry D�Paula, Mr. Sean D'Souza, Mr. Cyprian Albuquerque, Mr. Cyril Castelino, Mrs. Jessy Menezes, Mr. Felix D'Souza , Mr. Joy Paladka, Mr. Amiyar Bomboy, Mr. Navin Kulshekar, Mr. Anthony Tauro, Mr. John Sequiera, Mr. Sudhir S. Kodkani, Mr. Ratnakar Gokarn, Mr. Uday Mankikar, Mr. Julian Monis, Mrs. Stella Fernandes, Mr. Wilfred Fernandes, Richard Serrao and Mr. Sannu Monis Bolie.
As Mumbai is the only financial capital of India it consists of Konkani people coming from all over Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala. Thus Mumbai is the right place to bind all these people of different religion, casts, sects and dialects with one rope called Konkani. Thus it will be a huge cultural gathering on 23rd October 2004 at Shanmukhananda Hall Mumbai. All Konkani people will be given free entrance to this mega show though they will have to collect their entry passes in advance.
