JEANS BASH 2004  - A Report

Crystal Focus Club - Kuwait, a Goan Club managed by six Goan ladies, held with much pomp and splendor their Jeans Bash 2004 for 3 Ts Teens, Twenties and Thirties on August 20, 2004 at the Al-Shaab Leisure Park.

A dream project of entertainment at the most casual and relaxed state of mind Jeans Bash 2004 lived to be a pleasant getaway from the usual routine, office humdrum, monotonous schedules and formal attires for a strong gathering of over 250 people of varied diversities and ages dressed in the most casual attire and battered-tattered, knotty-spotty, trendy and sporty jeans.

The Bash kicked off with some early over-zealous entrants gyrating to the foot-tapping music of DJ Loyola and the continuous Bloopers sessions. MC Merwyn known for his spontaneity, flair and gifted gab did a fabulous job of entertaining the overwhelmingly hungry-for-dancing crowd until the fag end of the Bash.

The Al-Shaab Leisure Hall decorated with jeans glittered with magnificent show of lighting and a lovely backdrop of Jeans Bash.

The long sessions of dancing, numerous Spot Prizes, Medley-Dance Competition, Bloopers Contest, sumptuous Snacks and delicious Catering from Mumtaz Mahal were the highlights in addition to the highest class organizing efforts from the Club Members.  The show displayed a classic coordination among the Crystal Focus Club Members, Volunteers, Juries, MC, DJ, Caterers and most importantly the Al-Shaab personnel.

The show was co-sponsored by KDD Co, Almarai Co. for Juices & Caramel, Showtime Co. and Mr. Loyola.  Tony Viegas, our stalwart Member and Volunteers

In-charge, did a splendid job and provided efficient support to the Bash with other volunteers contributing their mite - John D Costa, John Mendes, Peter Fernandes, Mario de Colva, Effie D Souza, Doris Menezes, Mercy Franco, and Gloria Mendes. Rochelle D Souza, Cookie and Conchita Cardozo also helped the organizers by selling most number of gate passes individually. The Club remembered Luis Lopez, another staunch supporter, who missed the event by a day due to his vacation plans.

The juries Luis Morais, Vincy DSilva and Conchita Cardozo exhibited their exceptional capabilities for an efficient round up of 15 couple contestants for the Medley Dance Competition. The Contestants swayed to music mix of cha-cha, waltz, disco, reggae and Hindi-pop and the couple, Ronny and Fiona were adjudged the best Medley-dance couple for the evening.

In the Bloopers Contest, the duo, Vicky & Nuwan won the best place for their blooper life is like jeans, easy to wear but tough to tear, and Valerie was awarded the second prize. Also many spot prizes were given away during the dance sessions.

During the Lunch and Housie break, Gracy Rodrigues, General Secretary rendered a greeting-cum-thank you note to the gathering, special invitees, sponsors, volunteers, MC, DJ, juries, caterers and others who supported the Jeans Bash.

Special thanks was conveyed to Lydia Aguiar for designing the Jeans Bash Banner, Augusto Morais for his strong support to the Crystal Focus Club Members by way of Media Coverage and IT Support, and Gasper Almeida, General Secretary, Goan Welfare Society-Kuwait and Associate, www.goa-world.com for the press  and Net coverage for Jeans Bash 2004.

At a most touchy note, Gracy Morais thanked the family members of Club Members for their kind understanding and utmost cooperation - without them this event would not be possible.

Before the curtain fall, Janet Franco, Coordinator, invited some comments from the spectators.  Varushka Rebello, currently vacationing in Kuwait said, I am having a time of my life while Janet Gomes said, I admire you ladies for organizing a great show.
