Bollywood

NT Staff Reporter

Panaji Aug 28: A special Diwali issue of the Konkani
monthly magazine, Bimb documenting the role of Goans
in the Indian film industry would be published during
the first week of November, 2004.

The noted Goan Konkani writer, publisher and chief
editor of Bimb, Mr Dilip Borkar addressing a press
conference, today, said that as the state is gearing
up to organise the International Film Festival of
India (IFFI), Bimb has decided to come out with this
special Diwali issue coinciding with the mega film
event.

The Konkani people from Mangueshkar family to K
Vaikunth and Shyam Benegal to Girish Karnad have
contributed immensely in almost every area of the film
production, and the issue would be a tribute to their
talent, he said.

Mr Borkar also appealed to the people all over the
country to send information, articles, photographs and
other relevant material to Bimb, in Konkani, Marathi,
English or Hindi by October 15. If needed, the
articles would duly be translated into Konkani and the
300-page issue will hit the book-stalls in the first
week of November, he said.

The documentation will be a collectors issue and would
prove helpful to film critics, film researchers,
lovers of films, and readers in general, he added. The
issue will also contain rare photographs, information
about the film movement in Goa and coverage about the
Goa film festivals organised by the department of
information and publicity.

Further speaking, Mr Borkar said that the list of all
the people belonging to the regions having
Konkani-speaking people is ready and the work to
collect data about them is also in progress. However,
voluntary help from various sources in this matter
would prove to be greatly helpful, he said.

The total budget for the project is to the tune of Rs
5 lakh, he informed, adding that the issue would not
compromise on any aspect of quality.

Mr Borkar can be contacted for further details at Bimb

The executive editor of Bimb, Ms Prashanti Talpankar
and the marketing manager, Ms Kamini Kini were also
