PANAJI: The Goa government is showcasing its science centre as one of the many places to visit during a holiday. With more than two million tourists, some 18 lakh domestic tourist expected to visit the state during the season starting September-October, the Goa science centre, one of the 30 such centres spread across the country, has a big appeal for the tourists who come for a holiday with their family.

 src="" ALT=Click here to know more border=0></a>The Goa centre is located close to the popular Miramar beach in the state capital and promises true value for a visit on a holiday. The director of the western region of national council of science museums, G S Rautela said there is also a proposal to build a planetarium in Goa with sharing of cost by the state government. The science centres are operated by the national body of science museums. Rautela who is also the director of Nehru science centre, Mumbai is here in connection with the inauguration of Fun Science gallery by the Goa chief minister
 on Saturday. Some fifty exhibits with do-it-yourself experiments have been put up for the children and the elderly to know more about science - a head on a platter is no more a jadoo to squirm in the seat and mop cold sweat at a magic show. Fun science tells you that it is but the illusion of mirror to fool others. Ismail Dalai at the Goa centre would explain how ash is sprinkled from the hands to mesmerise the audience. The fire- eaters, he says, know that kerosene fire if doused within three seconds can do no harm and yet cast an awesome spell. Rautela said a research team is currently doing a survey in Mumbai to find out how science has impacted households. The Union ministry of culture supervising the museums also assures of mobile vans to take science at the doorsteps including setting up centres in remote districts to help people demystify powers that some claim to possess.
