Come September ....and it is time for the Konkani Community of St. Mary's Church Dubai to gear up for the Feast of the Nativity of our Mother Mary. This year, it is scheduled on Friday, September 10th, 2004. The Konkani High Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Cyprian D'souza at 10.00 AM at St. Mary's Church with blessing of New Paddy grains flown in from Mangalore fields followed by the customary flower offering ceremony in the St. Mary's Girls School Compound. Snacks and Blessed corns will be distributed to all after the ceremony. In the evening of the 10th September, St. Mary's Konkani Community (SMKC) Dubai will continue the tradition of hosting the cultural evening program filled with dances, skits and other entertaining shows followed by "Novem Jevonn". The various Zamats and groups belonging to St. Mary's Konkani Community (SMKC) Dubai have come forward to give their performances to fill up the 2.5 hours programme scheduled for the evening. The cultural programme will begin at sharp 7.00PM and by 9.30 PM. Fr. Cyprian D'souza will bless the new grains which will be followed by the traditional serving of "Novem Jevann" consisting of 7 Vegetables along with voorn. Tickets for the traditional 'Novem Jevann' served piping hot in the church compound is priced at only AED. 10/- which is inclusive of the entertaining program in the Main Church hall. All are cordially welcome to participate in the morning & evening traditional konkani culture & heritage programs staged especially to give those nostalgic feelings of this special day among Mangaloreans in U.A.E.
