Goan Film-maker Young Goan film-maker T-Bush was drawn towards films because "it is a powerful media of our time". He speaks of his love for Art and Film, what motivates him and about his personal goals and objectives. |

ALL of us dream, but very few persons realise their dreams. Dreaming about greatness in life is fair enough, but living up to one's dreams takes a bit of doing. T-Bush, a Nagoa Verna-born Goan figures among the select few. He hitched his dream to a star and has followed the right patch faithfully and is on the virtual doorstep of achieving his dream.
Born on August 11, 1971, with an innate love for art, T-Bush remembers vividly the very first film - Superman I - he watched in his childhood. Somehow the film etched a strong desire in the child's mind, to become a film-maker, to produce his own film one day. Today as an Art Director for the Inflight Video Entertainment-Europe, UK, USA and Middle East, his creativity has attracted attention substantially in the right quarters.
Says T-Bush, "Since my early teens at Nagoa-Verna's St. Joseph Convent, I have been visualizing the world around me. This particular tendency acquired a fresh perception while studying for my Bachelor's degree in Fine Art at Panjim's Goa College of Art. At Altinho, it was where I began dreaming of a life in the field of Art. I majored in Audio-Visual from the Goa University, to set myself on the road to professionalism, doing further studies in Film Making at London Film School in the UK."
Films, he had realised, would compliment his creative urge without any restraints. At the London Film School he studied Film and TV Production, which happens to be another "great passion" with him. "The trip to UK changed my life. I realized that Films meant more than than a mere childhood fantasy. I began devouring eagerly my film grammar. I saw every kind of film that was being made, got to know and interacted with people in the UK, whose lives revolved entirely around Hollywood films," he reminisces.
Having achieved the best grade at the film school, he readily landed a job in a British film company. He had the fortune of brushing shoulders with important and eminent European and Hollywood film-makers like John Keates (in his successful film "Hello You"), popular directors like Robert Brunning, Matt Taylor and others. He learnt to fend for himself in this complicated world, the experience prompted him to effect a radical lifestyle change. He says, "Having contributed in the making of these films I discovered that I had the ability and drive to embark on my own film production.
T-Bush professes an undying love for his native Goa and mothertongue Konkani. He is planning out his own directing venture with art loving and appreciative people supporting him. He plans to make films, though none in Goa for the moment. However, he would step into the field some day soon, because he maintains that this "field can pay dividends if seriously pursued".
In fact, he wants to come up with a real bang on the Konkani silver screen with a feature film "Adeus My Love". It was an idea he toyed with for quite some time and the ground-breaking plot involves merging aspects of Goa and Portugal within a powerful traditional context. "Adeus My Love" is as beautiful and rare a love story with romance, comedy & drama. A Konkani silver-screen feature film (not a video film), it is in the pre-production stage. This film is set for shooting at impressive locations in Portugal, France, London and Goa.
To capture the Goan and Portuguese traditions, I felt, the best way was to set a romantic love story. It may be compared to popular Hindi films standard, but I have put in a lot of effort to give my film a Hollywood look, he says enthusiastically. His endeavour is to fetch for "Goan films their rightful place in the cinema map of the world".
Very individualistic in his approach to everything, T-Bush says, "I have been taught since I was very young that there are no short cuts to success. I have come up the hard way." His chosen careers deems that he does so, because he says that his "future lies in movies, because there is enough scope in the industry for people with the right proportion of imagination and creativity."
His short English film - The Letter - with an American cast and crew is already in production. He says, "The Letter" tells of a father, who longed to meet his daughter someday to tell her how much he loves her. The short film will be screened at most of the International short film festivals.
While striving to string together good music and cinematography, he intends to introduce new faces, helping budding artistes to showcase their talent.
In parting, says T-Bush, I have lived with these cinema ideas for far too long. They light my path in life. Yet no ideas can hold me in my own prison. I want to create strength out of thin air, it is not an easy task to accomplish but I seek that power.
