India beat Kuwait in Exhibition soccer match

Under the able guidance of Coach Stephen Constantine, a highly charged
India upset Kuwait 3-2 at the Kazma Stadium in Kuwait on Friday, 5th
November 2004.  The exhibition match was organized to felicitate former
Kuwaiti captain Fawaz who has announced his retirement from
International football.

The large contingent of Indian supporters who attended the match
expecting Kuwait will easily win the match were in for a pleasant
surprise as the Indian lads (most of them in their late teens) not only
showed their skills, but demonstrated much more application and physical
stamina than their Kuwaiti counterparts.  This team could certainly
augur well for India in the next couple of years.

Kuwait shot into the lead when Fahad Al-Fahad scored due to a defensive
error by the Indians towards the end of the first half.  However, the
Indians immediately equalized through hard working Tomba Singh.  The
Indians introduced the famous Goan player Alvito D'Cunha in the second
half and although he brought in some extra inspiration to the team
Kuwait went into the lead again through Bashar Abdulla only to see Jerry
Zersango equalize immediately after that.  However all the Indian fans
went berserk when Abashek Yadav won the game for India towards the end of the second half.

This victory by the Indians over highly rated Kuwait will be sweetly
remembered by all soccer crazy Indians for a long time to come.  Here's
wishing the Indian Soccer Team.. All the very best for the future.
