Goan soccer league on the cards
BAHRAIN Goans, who recently organised the Gulf Goans
Six-A-Side Soccer Tournament, are planning to organise
a Goan inter-village soccer league next month.
The good response for the Gulf Goans six-a-side
tournament by Bahrain-based teams has inspired the
organisers to have a league for Goan footballers based
in Bahrain.
As many as 14 teams from Bahrain participated in the
day long tournament that was held during Eid holidays.
Impressed by the participation and proceedings of the
tournament, Fr Felicio Diniz, the ex-parish priest of
Sacred Heart Church, who was the chief guest on the
occasion had volunteered to donate a rolling trophy
for similar events in future.
The organisers are contemplating to use this gift for
the Goan inter-village league. Teams intending to
participate in the league may contact Vincent D'Costa
