Dancers to book place for Goa in Guiness Records

Panjim, Dec. 23, 2004 (PTI): Thirtyfour dancers will perform for over 65 hours to book a place for the beach paradise of Goa in the Guiness Records, for holding the longest dance party.

They will perform at the party which would start on December 28 and is expected to culminate on New Year, 2005 at Radissons White Sands Resort at Varca in south Goa, resort general manager Jaideep Singh told reporters here on Tuesday.

Currently, UK has the record for longest party which went on for 52 hours and four minutes, he said.

"The record will be created even if 75 per cent of the dancers manage to dance for 65 hours. As per the schedule the record would be broken on December 31," he said.

Fit-bodied dancers from across the nation have been selected after thorough screening for the event. Besides six dancers from Goa, participants from Bangalore, Belgaum, Kolhapur, Solapur and Mumbai would perform during the event.

The dancers have been placed under strict vigil and fed specific diet, the manager said.

The dancers are being given endurance and energising food so that they remain fit during dancing, resort's executive chef Vinit Manocha said.

Hotel's Gravity Pool, a club house, is being modified for the event. Besides participants, around 5,000 people are expected to witness the event.
