India national day festivities lined up
INDIAN Ambassador Ranjan Mathai will hoist the Indian
national flag at the Indian Cultural Centre, D-Ring
Road, at 8am on January 26, 2005, to mark the
country�s 56th republic day.
Students of Modern Indian School and the Shantiniketan
Indian School will participate by singing the national
anthem and patriotic songs. The flag hoisting ceremony
will be followed by the reading of a message from the
president of India and a reception for the Indian
community at the ICC.
All Indian nationals with their families have been
�cordially invited to attend�, an embassy statement
said.
The ambassador will also hoist the tricolour flag at
the Modern Indian School at 9.30am and at the Birla
Public School at 10.30am.
Similar ceremonies will be held at the Shantiniketan
Indian School, MES Indian School and Ideal Indian
School, where the national flag will be hoisted by
other diplomatic officers at the embassy. The
functions will be held simultaneously at 9.30am.
To mark the event, ICC will host a variety of cultural
programmes at Doha Cinema on February 4, at 6.30pm.
The event is being organised with the active
involvement of various socio-cultural organisations
affiliated to the ICC. Some 20 organisations, out of
the 60 groups affiliated to ICC, have confirmed their
participation in the event.
