Indo-Oman symphony to mark 50 years of bilateral ties |

The joint India-Oman concert, which will be featuring Royal Oman symphony orchestra and Indian violinist Dr L Subramaniam, is all set to mark the culmination of a 50-year strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
The consulate of India opened in Muscat in February 1955 and the golden jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Oman is being celebrated throughout 2005, with a joint concert on March 2.
India`s External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh has sent warm greetings to Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Foreign Affairs Minister of the Sultanate of Oman on this occasion.
The celebrations will witness top Indian bureaucrats paying a visit to Oman. Ministry of External Affairs secretary Rajiv Sikri, who held talks with Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidy, undersecretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate
of Oman, will be amongst the dignitaries.
The last 50 years have
witnessed a steady consolidation of the historic ties between the two countries, the proof of which is the presence of 3,50,000 Indians in the Sultanate.
The Oman-India fertiliser project, which will be completed this year, is yet another symbol of the strong India-Oman economic ties.
As part of the celebrations, an exhibition on Indo-Oman links is being organised by the Indian embassy At Bait Al Zubair museum, Muscat on February 20 with artefacts and material from a number of institutions in Oman and India, including the Ministry of Heritage and Culture of Oman, the National Archives of India and the National Museum of India. � PTI
