BJP members storm into well, RS adjourned till 1400 hrs
New Delhi, Mar 1, 2005 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha was today adjourned for about three hours following uproarious scenes by the BJP-led opposition demanding restoration of Parrikar government in Goa.
The Opposition members, especially the BJP members, not only indulged in some vociferous slogan shouting but also stormed into the well of the House.
As the House assembled for the day, the BJP-led NDA members were on their feet raising slogans like ''Parrikar Sarkar bahal karo (restore Parrikar government)'', Goa mein Loktantra ki hatya nahi chalegi (Down with the murder of democracy in Goa)'' and ''Congress ki Soniashahi, Loktantra ki kare Tabahi (Soniaism in Congress is detrimental to the democracy)''.
Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat tried to pacify the agitated members and said one of the leaders may speak on the issue. As Ms Sushma Swaraj (BJP) started to speak, she was interrupted by the treasury bench members followed by a din in the House.
As the members trooped into the well of the House and continued with the slogan shouting for about 20 minutes, the Chairman adjourned the House till 1400 Hrs.
In the meanwhile, a member from the treasury bench showed a clipping of a newspaper making comment on the BJP leadership. The Chair prevented him from doing so and said papers were not allowed to be shown in the House.
