Margao March 8: After five days of the imposition of the Presidents rule in Goa, the national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mr Pramod Mahajan today came out with the demand for dissolution of the state legislative assembly or, he warned all the 16 sitting BJP MLAs would resign en-mass forcing dissolution.

Addressing a massive public rally in Margao, Mr Mahajan said mere suspended animation would not do and also made it clear that the party would fight the next state elections on the issue of the Governor, Mr S C Jamirs partisan attitude and the good and stable governance provided by the Manohar Parrikar government.

Making this statement at the fag end of the meeting, organised by the BJP state unit in Margao this evening, Mr Mahajan promised to the people, By next year you will see a new BJP government headed by Mr Parrikar, amidst cheers from the BJP supporters.

He opined that the question before voters was not one Digamber Kamat, but the larger interests of the state. This has been proved through the public turnout at the meeting, he said. Charging, the Congress president of trying to find a face saving device following the partys misadventure in Goa and Jharkhand, Mr Mahajan felt that if the Jharkhand incident were not to have taken place then the situation in Goa would have been different.

Terming the UPA as an Un-Principled Alliance, the senior BJP leader pointed out that the Centre had effected a reshuffle of governors only in states where polls were scheduled or the party wanted to form a government by using false means the Governors office.

While Bihar will never witness the return of Lalu Yadav or Rabri Devi, Jharkhand will have a BJP government soon, Mr Mahajan said. He praised Mr Parrikar saying that he as the first chief minister who could bring the `Best State award to Goa. Only Mr Parrikar could provide Goa with both stability and recognition. He is the only one after Dayanand Bandodkar, he said.

Referring to the Governor, Mr Mahajan said: Mr Jamir is the first Governor to have called the Speaker a murderer of democracy.

Advocating a fixed term for governors, Mr Mahajan felt that the the Constitution would need some changes in this regard. Pointing out to the South Goa MP, Mr Churchill Alemao, the senior BJP leader said: Instead of calling the Union Home Minister, Mr Shivraj Patil, a member of Mr Alemaos own party, an agent of the BJP, he should find out whose agent Mr Jamir was.

He further repeated the BJPs demand for the recall of the Governor.

The former chief minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar speaking on the occasion said that the Speaker, Mr Vishwas Satarkar was never wrong. He has totally followed the Constitution, he said.

Mr Parrikar lashed out at the Rane government saying that the government only used the name of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to scare and harass contractors and earn some money by blackmailing them.

Terming his entry into politics as a sort of an accident, Mr Parrikar disclosed that he always wanted to show that politics was not about making money or using corrupt methods.

I wanted to show that politics had character, he said. Mr Parrikar requested the voters of Margao to teach the former MLA, Mr Kamat a good lesson by sending him back home. Voters should take the example of Mr Mathany Saldanha, he opined.

Citing an example, Mr Parrikar said that the former power minister rather than attending to requests from his party MLAs, he always helped the opposition MLAs. If Mr Kamat complains of suffocation now, then just imagine the plight of my MLAs, whose works were kept pending for days together, he said.

The North Goa MP, Mr Shripad Naik in his address said though the actual reasons for Mr Kamats last minute exit from the party were not known, it was confirmed that the former MLA was a selfish man. Comparing Mr Kamat with the Cortalim MLA, Mr Mathany Saldanha, the North Goa MP said that the BJP would always back Mr Saldanha, in spite of him being from a different political party.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Mr Babu Azgaonkar, Mr Vijay Pai Khot, Mr Damu Naik, Mr Anil Pai, Mr Chandan Naik and Ms Krishni Walke.
