| Goa BJP demands reinstatement of Parrikar ministry:
[India News]: Panaji, Mar 12, 2005 :
Goa BJP today demanded that Manohar Parrikar government should be reinstated and asked to prove majority on the floor of the House, following the swearing-in of the Arjun Munda-led NDA government in Jharkhand.
"What has happened in Jharkhand is a repeat of what happened in Goa. The Pratapsinh Rane government was sworn in wrongly and we therefore demand that Parrikar government should be reinstated immediately and called to prove majority on the floor of the House", state unit president Rajendra Arlekar told reporters here.
"Our first demand in the backdrop of the Jharkhand issue is that our government should be reinstated, but if that cannot happen, then the assembly should be dissolved as there is no other way out", he said.
"Arjun Munda should have been called to form the government in the first place as Shibu Soren has shown that he could not prove majority", Arlekar said.
Criticising the Congress, he
said in Goa, "the party wanted the pro-tem speaker to conduct the vote of confidence, but in Jharkhand it felt that a pro-tem speaker cannot take a floor test. This is hypocrisy".
Claiming that the Congress had no right to ask for the reinstatement of the Rane government, he said, "if they feel that there were misunderstandings created by the BJP among their own party high command, then this is the biggest political joke in recent times". PTI
