Hi there,

Fascinating research by UK-based historian Cliff Pereira reveals that Goan
sailors were employed on British ships in the 18th Century.

According to Pereira, one ship the East Indiaman Boscawen that weighed 499
tonnes and had 26 guns and upto 90 crew, even dropped anchor at Goa on January
9, 1762.

Read all about it in his work Goans on British Ships in the 18th Century,
which is available in the Files Section of the Goan Maritime Museum mailing
list.

We invite you onboard the Goan Maritime Museum mailing list, which is
currently docked at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/goa-maritime-museum/. Entry
is free and tickets are freely available at the site.

Regards,
Melvyn Misquita
