Navelim Ahead, Tivim Hold Margao
Navelim continued to reign supreme in the Bahrain Goans Seven-a-side Football League for Fr. Felicio Diniz Trophy with a 3 - 0 win over Vasco at the Al Qadisiya ground in Salmaniya.
Vasco strengthened by the induction of former senior division player of Kerala Gabriel Rajan held Navelim to a goalless draw till the half time. In the second half Cirilo Baretto scored a brace and league�s top scorer Melroy Rebello rounded off the tally for Navelim.
In another match Tivim held Benaulim to a 1 - 1 draw to earn their first point in the league. Benaulim surged ahead in the first half with a goal from Hilario Rodrigues and Nicholas Fernandes restored parity for Tivim. In the dying minutes Tivim had a glorious chance to take the lead but Nicholas with only the keeper at his mercy failed to get his shot on target.
At the East Riffa open grounds, Chinchinim earned a hard fought 2 -1 victory over Verna. Verna took the lead early in the first half through James Borges, but two quick goals from Savio Da Silva sealed the match in favour of Chinchinim. Verna looked in command in the second half but squandered three opportunities to equalise as Borges and Agnelo Misquita showed indiscretion in the goal area.
In the last match of the week, Canacona literally strolled past Margao in a lop-sided encounter as they went into half time with a 3 - 0 lead with two goals from Fahad Mohammed and one from Terence Coelho. In the second half Velroy D�Costa and Oliver D�Souza scored one each to give them a 5 - 0 victory.
