What one has to do is the next time you are in Goa, take your children's  birth certificates
and register their births at the Civil Registrar's office.
That is how they can be proved to be Goans as far as the law is concerned.

Something worth looking into and extremely important!!!!

 

We are in the process of transferring the title deed of our property from our deceased parents� name to ourselves. We have been asked to provide their death certificates, our birth certificates from the Govt. registrars office and also several other documents from the panchayat.  Birth certificates from the Church (authenticated by the Bishop�s office in Panjim), passport copies are not acceptable.

 

Fortunately for us, since we, our parents and grandparent are true blooded Goans (zonkars in fact) we were able to produce the required certificates from the registrars office.

 

Now my question is.  What happens if our children, who are all born in Kuwait, holding Indian passports, are faced with the same situation.

 

Since the late 70s and early 80s I have made several vain attempts to get their names registered both with the local panchayat and the registrar of births in Mapuca. I have made affidavits, translation of their Arabic birth certificates, in fact every silly thing I was asked to do, but to no avail.  

 

I am sure this is of vital importance to all non-resident Goans and I would be extremely grateful If someone out there can shed some light on how this is to be done.
