Yet another lie by the protagonist of "ONE LANGUAGE
ONE SCRIPT ONE SOCIETY" i.e the pro "Konkani
Devanagari script only" who are against Konkani in
Roman script is reproduced
herein below :
EXCERPT FROM THE MEETING OF THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE
SAHITYA AKADEMI (New Delhi) held on 26 February 1975.
" As Konkani fulfills the criteria formulated by the
Akademi for recognition of a language it is recognised
as an independent modern literary language of India.
With regard to programmes in Konkani like the annual
award, publications , constitution and meetings of the
Advisory Boards etc, involving expenditure. Sahitya
Akademi should request the Government of India to
provide the necessary extra funds. Such programmes and
other activities should be undertaken only when extra
funds are available"

Ferozshah Road New Delhi clearly shows that script
was not the criteria for recognising the language by
the Sahitya Akademi on 26.2.1975
And in the string of other lies here is reproduced the
STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS for the Constitution
(Seventy first) Amendment Act 1992 when Konkani was
included in the VIII Schedule of the Constitution of
India
"There have been demands for inclusion of certain
languages in the Eight Schedule to the Constitution.
It is proposed to include KONKANI (emphasis mine)
Manipuri and Nepali languages in the Eight Schedule to
the Constitution. The Bill seeks to give effect to
this decision.

The portion of the text of the Act
Be it enacted by Parliament in the Forty third year of
the Republic of India as follows
1. Short title -- This Act may be called the
Constitution (Seventy First Amendment ) Act 1992
2. Amendment of Eight Schedule In the Eight Schedule
to the Constitution:
a) existing entry 7 shall be-numbered as entry 8 and
before entry 8 as so re-numbered, the '7 KONKANI"
(emphasis mine) shall be inserted

>From this amendment Act to it is clear that nowhere
the script DEVANAGARI was stated.
Therefore the people of Goa who gave their sweat tears
and blood not forgetting huge chunks of money (some
unaccounted till date) should now question the leaders
of the Konkani Porjecho Avaz, (KPA spearheading the
movement for recognition of konkani as the official
language in 1986, viz; the present MP Mr Churchill
Braz Alemao, Mr Pundalik Naik (not Nayak) and Mr Uday
Laximikant Bhembre (Adv) when and how was it decided
--- with DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE IN WRITING ---that only
Devanagari script was acceptable to all Goans as the
Official script for Konkani.
Further a) who were the signatories of the Committee
who passed the resolution recommending that only
DEVANAGIRI was the acceptable script to the people of
Goa; and why and b) who spread the canard to the
Goans that there was a need for "ONLY ONE SCRIPT " as
the criteria for either -----recognising the Konkani
language ----or including it in the VIII Schedule.
Watch out for more exposes of how the some office
bearers in the name of Konkani in Devanagari scrip
"UTILISE" the funds sanctioned by the Directorate of
Official Languages for "Konkani mai" in Goa.
