Hilary Tellis and Edwin D`Souza for Daijiworld News Network - Bahrain

Bahrain, September 10: The Feast of the Nativity of Our Lady was celebrated with blessing of paddy flown in from Mangalore on the outdoor stage of Sacred Heart Church at 10:30am followed by a concelebrated High Mass in Konkani at 11:00 am in the multipurpose hall. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Thomas Quadros OFM. Cap. was the main celebrant. Fr. Vincent D'Souza during his homily said that our love for each other should not wither like the flowers.

It was wonderful to see the little children lined up dressed in colourful attire to adore and honour Mama Mary with their floral offerings, a symol of their love and affection for her alongwith their parents and relatives. The "Monthi Fest" celebration mood was certainly in the air.

The celebration organised by the Konkani Prayer Group was attended by over 1500 parishioners. Volunteers distributed sweets and coconut juice containing the blessed paddy after mass.

The celebration then continued at the Bishop Tirinanzi Auditorium with cutting of the cake by the Parish Priest, Assistant Priests, Sisters and organisers' representatives followed by a cultural show. Group dances performed by children were choreographed by Mrs. Priya Mascarenhas. Skits, Mogacho Bandhh, written by Manu Bahrain; Ek Morn Theen Inteor, written by John Rebello were staged. Traditional vegetarian lunch was then served and all the attendees enjoyed with a spirit of love and unity. As one parishioner recalled, this celebration truly reminded us of the celebration we witnessed during our younger days back home.

Rev. Fr. Thomas Quadros right mentioned, it is certainly a moment to recall the hard work put in by the farmers for the crop and to thank God for all his countless Blessing he has poured out on us.
