Daijiworld News Network - Dubai Dubai, September 9: A new generation of talents came to light in Dubai, as the youth wing of SMKC performed a splendid show in the main hall of St Mary's Church Dubai on September 9 evening to mark the feast of Nativity. All of them are young and energetic; many of them are not yet known to the public, yet, despite it, they proved to be highly talented artistes.
It was a perfect stage for them to show their talent and prove that they can challenge and take over the roles of adult artistes who have preformed over the years. They did their job when the audience needed something new and innovative. Ullas Fernandes Siddakatte, former president of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, who ably co-ordinated the entire event and proved that he is the kind of leader for the higher levels in the coming years. Dance troupes led by Vinod Sequiera presented some sensational western as well as Manddo dances; they were totally professional and they succeeded in entertaining the entire crowd. The dance troupe led by Matilda Furtado also performed exceptionally. 'Shirandharincho Pavs', 'Tujem Ghor Khoim?' and 'Ho Manddo Goencho' were some of the notable dances. The dance troupe comprised of Vinod Sequiera, Prem Pais Bejai, Jessy D'Souza Miyar, Arun Almeida Moodigere, Janet D'Silva Mudarangady, Deepak D'Sunha Urwa, Shamita Cutinha Cascia, Roshan D'Souza Permai, Matilda Furtado Ajekar, Steven D'Souza Omzoor, Christine Monis Shirva, Terence Rodrigues Mumbai, Lee Dalmeida Valencia, Atin D'Souza, Mumbai, Jasmine Tauro Bejai, Diana Noronha Karkala , Attur and others. The selection of songs was perfect; it was heartening to see young talents taking keen interest promoting Konkani language through songs. When the younger is being blamed for ignoring their own mother-tongue, the Yuva wing rose to the occasion and rendered a song of WIlfy Rebimbus 'Bhaas Amchi Konkani'. 'Doriya Kushin' and 'Khellonk Haav Ashetam' were the other two songs that came at the perfect timing. The participants in the songs were Lloyd Lobo Rosario, Mamata D'Souza Rosario, Jasmine Tauro Bejai, Nishel Pais Bejai, Wilfred Saldanha Fajir, Reggie Sequiera Bendur, Gilroy Britto Goa, Riston Lewis, and Roshan Vamanjoor. At a brief felicitation programe, the provincial of Karnataka for Capuchins Fr Jossie Fernandes was the guest of honor. Fr Harry D`Souza of Sevak, Fr Cyprian D'Souza of Dubai honoured the sponsors of the event and Boniface Carlo of SMKC along with other dignitaries was also present on the dais. "Konkani is a language spoken in Heaven,' said Fr Jossie Fernandes, amidst a huge applause from the crowd, as a mark of appreciation and encouragement to his comment. He said 'If you go to Mangalore Railway station you can hear people speak Malayalam; if you go to Bangalore you will hear Tamil in a majority of places. When I came here, I thought I would hear Arabic more than any the other langauge, but to my utter surprise I heard a lot of people communicating in Konkani. It is a great sign,' he said while encouraging everyone to speak Konkani. Skits were presented in between the songs and dances. Young talents were in kind of a blasting mood. They simply performed with abandon in front of over 1500-strong audience inside the hall, as well as a large number who had gathered outside to witness the cultural event on a large screen. The skit perfomers picked some good subjects and succeeded in presenting quality humour to the audience. The participants in the skit were Gerald Pinto Beltangady, Lydia Pereira Bangalore, Melwyn Mathias Bajal,Godwin Castelino Karkal, Naveen Bolkunje, Wilson D'Mello Karkal and Henry Barboza Belman. During the programme, the revamped Konkanuae website was released by Fr Cyprian. A brief felicitation was held for honouring the editor Jennifer Mascarenhas and her team members. 'Kazarachi Dotorn', an evergreen play written by the late M P D`sa was staged as a major entertainment event. The play brought rollicking moments to the crowd with superb dialogue delivery and acting in three major roles Miron, Anton and Vigaar. The cast was all from a Vamanjoor team that comprised of Praveen, Steven, Anand and Rajesh - an all-Menezes family Another pair of upcoming talents, Sunita Baptist and Sachin D`Souza, compered the event beautifully. They did justice to the occasion, showing good oratorial skills and stage presentation. They showed a lot of promise for the future and major events. Perhaps they came at the right time when Dubai needed some really good young comperes to conduct shows. The dinner was catered by Shezan Restaurant. The volunteers of SMKC put enormous efforts in the arrangements and discipline sector. They left no stone unturned to to bring full success to the event. Noel Mascarenhas, who kept a low profile during the event, supervised the entire show from behind the screens to ensure its going through smoothly, was quite happy to see its success "Our youngsters did a fantastic job. We delegated the complete responsibility on to their shoulders and they did not let us down. After all, they are the future of our community. We must encourage them."
Perhaps, this observation will help them to take care during future programmes. The organizers certainly need to screen such presentations. Photo Album Click Here Related: |
