DOUBLE SPEAK HYPOCRICY AND WOLVES IN THE GARB OF SHEEP
IN THE NAME OF COMUNAL HARMONY THE SAME SECTION OF
HINDU BRAHMINS HAVE SOUGHT TO ELIMINATE THE CATHOLIC
COMMUNITY OF THEIR CULTURE FOLKLORE WRITINGS LANGUAGE
AND THEIR SCRIPT NURTURED OVER CENTURIES.
THE TOLERANCE HAS COST US DEARLY IT IS NOW OR NEVER
KONKANI IN ROMAN SCRIPT MUST BE RECOGNISED AS THE
STATE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE ALONGWITH DEVANAGARI SCRIPT
AND THE HINDU NON BRAHMIN COMMUNITIES ARE STRONGLY
SUPPORTING OUR LEGITIMATE DEMAND WHICH THEY BLAME US
FOR FOREGOING ON A FALSE PROMISE RIDDLED WITH LIES
LIES AND ONLY LIES.
THE HISTORY OF KONKANI ----IN ROMAN SCRIPT BEGINS FROM
1556 BY THE JESUITS AND THE CONTRIBUTION FROM 1893 OF
WORLD FAMOUS LINGUIST AND WRITER, MSGR SEBASTIAO R
DALGADO A DIOCESAN PRIEST NATIVE OF ASSAGAO BARDEZ GOA
WHO PROMOTED KONKANI LANGUAGE IN WORLD FORA. YET A
SECTION OF HINDU BRAHMINS SUPPORT KONKANI ONLY IN
DEVANAGARI SCRIPT NOT IN ROMAN SCRIPT.
THEY PROMOTE "SHENOI GOEMBAB" WAMAN VARDE VALAULIKAR
A TWENTIETH CENTURY GOAN WRITER SINCE 1914 A NATIVE
OF BICHOLIM GOA AS THE "FATHER OF RESURRECTION OF THE
KONKANI MOVEMENT".
TO ACHIEVE THIS OBJECTIVE THEY FIRST TOOK THE SUPPORT
OF THE CATHOLIC GOANS TO RECOGNISE KONKANI AS AN
INDEPENDENT LANGUAGE IN 1975
LATER THEY FORMED THE GOA KONKNNI ACADEMY IN 1984
THEN DURING LANGUAGE AGITATION IN 1986 FOOLED THE
CHURCH (THEN ARCHBISHOP HIS GRACE DR RAUL NICLAU
GONSALVES )AND THE POLITICAL LEADERS (CATHOLIC AND
BAHUJAN HINDUS) IN POWER TO BELIEVE THAT
A) "COMMOM SCRIPT" WAS A "MUST" AND "ESSENTIAL" TO :
GRANT RECOGNITION TO KONKANI AS "OFFICIAL"
LANGUAGE
B) BY ACCEPTING DEVANAGARI IT WOULD "BIND" THE HINDU
AND CATHOLIC COMMUNITY
C) HINDU NON BRAHMINS (BAHUJAN SAMAJ)SUPPORTING
MARATHI LANGUAGE WILL EASILY ACCEPT KOKANI SINCE
THEY ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE DEVANAGARI SCRIPT
ALL THIS IS NOW CONFIRMED WITH VITAL DOCUMENTARY
EVIDENCE AVAILABLE WITH THIS WRITER AND OTHERS AS

AS A RESULT ROMAN SCRIPT GETS STEPMOTHERLY TREATMENT
SINCE 1987 FROM THE GOVERNMENT-- OUR TEATROS, MANDOS
DEKHNIS, ROMAN SCRIPT LITERATURE AND POETRY SUFFER ---
OUR CHILDREN ARE FORCED TO STUDY EITHER THE
SANSKRITISED NON STANDARDISED KONKANI IN DEVANAGARI
SCRIPT OR HAVE TO UNWITTINGLY OPT FOR PRIMARY
EDUCATION IN ENGLISH AT HIGH EXHORBITANT COSTS OR TAKE
TUITIONS IN KONKANI DEVANAGARI SCRIPT
TO UNDO THIS CRIME PERPETUATED ON US WE HAVE DEMANDED
THE GOA GOVERNMENT TO INTRODUCE BY THE NEXT SESSION OF
THE GOA LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY IN DECEMBER 2005 OR
JANUARY 2006 NOTHING SHORT OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE
OFFICIAL LANGUAGE ACT TO GRANT RECOGNITION TO KONKANI
IN ROMAN SCRIPT ON PAR WITH THE DEVANAGARI SCRIPT .
A SIMILAR AMENDMENT IS BEING PURSUED BY A SIGNATURE
CAMPAIGN TO THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA TO EXCERCISE HIS
POWERS IN THE INTEREST OF THE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY
THIS CAMPAIGN IS IN FULL STREAM AT ALL CHURCHES AND
DIOCESAN SCHOOLS WILL FOLLOW SUIT.
FORTUNATELY OUR HINDU BAHUJAN SAMAJ AND OTHER HINDUS
WHO SUPPORT BOTH ROMAN AND DEVANAGARI SCRIPTS ARE
STONGLY WITH US. THOUGH THEY HAVE EXTENDED COVERT
SUPPORT AS OF NOW THEY HAVE ASSURED THIS ACTIVIST OF
OVERT SUPPORT ONCE THE DYE IS CAST.
EVEN THOSE IN THE NOVAS CONQUISTAS THAT THIS WRITER
APPROACHED ARE SYMPATHETIC TO THE CAUSE -- IN
PROTECTION OUR TINY LAND AND THE DANGEROUS DEMOGRAPHIC

be Andre Vaz came out with the first grammar of

Portuguez' was published.
1904:
João Agostinho Fernandes' tiatr 'Bhattkara' his wife
Mrs. Regina Fernandes acted. She was the first lady to
act in the tiatr.
31.07.1905:
the first Konkani novel 'Kristanv Ghorabo' was written
and published by Eduardo Jose Bruno de Souza.
Mgr. Sebestião R. Dalgado's 'Diccionario Portuguez
-Komkani' was published.
1914:
Waman R. Varde Valavlikar's (popularly known as
Shanai Gõybab) known as the "Man who resurrected the
Konkani movment" a native of Bicholim Goa (born 23 Jun
1877 - 9 Abril 1946) got a Konkani book 'Zunvllea
Bhavancho Ghuspa-gadall' published in Roman script.
Besides this book he has written 12 more Konkani
booklets in Roman script.

Romi writers and readers were invited at
T.B.Cunha Hall to discuss the matter related to Roman
script. It was officially decided once again to revive
DKA. late Fr. Freddy Da Costa (Editor of Gulab a Roman
script Konkani periodical )was chosen as the convener.
17.05.2004 Freddy da Costa Editor Gulab expired in a
tragic accident.died. His brother Fausto Da Costa
Editor of Goan Review Mumbai took over as its Editor.

Mr. Tomazinho Cardozo ex INC Calangute MLA Speaker of
the Goa Legislative Assembly renowned tiatrist
lyricist and Konkani writer was chosen as the
Convener of the DALAGADO KONKNNI AKADEMI

Dr. Wilfred de Souza Nationalist Congress Party MLA
Saligao got a Private Member's Resolution
unananimously passed after being amended. Government
conceded to give only ASSISTANCE (not grants) for
promotion of the Konkani language and literature in
the Roman script taking into consideration that a
large number of Goans use this script in contributing
to journals, newspapers, magazines and books in this
script.

DKA organised a musical show at the Holy
Spirit Church Grounds to revive the Konkani in Roman
script movement. It was decided to celebrate the
150 birth anniversary of Msgr Sebastiao Dalgado the
father of the Konkani Movement in the Roman script

On 150th birth anniversary of Msgr Sebastiao
Dalgado's celebrations at Caritas Hall Panaji. Fr.
Vasco do Rego, S.J. was conferred with the first
"Dalgado Konknni Puroskar of Rs.50,000/- Archbishop of
Goa and Daman His Grace Filipe Neri Ferrão was the
chief guest.

DKA sent a letter to Sahitya Akademi, New
Delhi and demanded to give equal recognition to all
other scripts Roman, in Goa, besides Devanagari
(michievously agreed as the only script on
21.11.1981)and Kannada scripts in Karnataka;

DKA Convenor and others decided to call a meeting on
14th July at Pilar of a few institutions which are
working for Konkani in Roman script, especially the
tiatrists and others;

and discussed issues related to Konkani in Roman

decisions were approved. a) the memorandum
signed by various Konkani institutions to Sahitya
Akademi (SA), New Delhi demanding equal status for
Devanagari , Roman and Kannada scripts of Konkani. b)
to call a larger meeting at Margão of readers,
writers and artists of Konkani in Roman script at
Margão to elicit further support;
