Jarimeri (Mumbai), 12 Sept 2005: Konkan Taram Association Jerimeri, celebrated the Feast of Nativity in St.Jude Church Jerimeri on Sunday the 11th September, 2005. Auxiliary Bishop Most Rev. Percival Fernandes offered the High Mass and gave a homily. Parish priest Fr Michael D'Souza, Fr Hubert Goveas and Fr Denzil Fernandes con-celebrated the Solemn procession and mass. Kumari Fiola Dsouza organised a prayer dance with little children. Konkan Taram Members organised the liturgy through children and sang a melodious choir with their own composed hymns for Mother Mary. Blessed corns, sugar cane, snacks & sweets were served for all parishioners. After the mass three important personalities of parish were honored and felicitated, alongwith Bishop and Priests. Mrs. Flora D'Souza was congratulated and felicitated for being selected as General Secretary of Nationalist Mahila Congress Party North East Mumbai District and also for rendering 27 years of social service at Jarimari parish. Mr. Walter DSouza (SEO) was also felicitated for his social work and helping the people who were affected by recent flooding disaster at Mumbai. Mr. Lawrence Dsouza was also felicitated for his initiatives to start Konkani Activities at Jarimari parish 35 years ago. Students who topped in the last year's examinations were given a gift voucher with certificate of award by Konkan Taram sponsored by Vice president Mr. John Veigas. Mr. Joseph Castelino, Mr. Harry Sequeira, Mr. Rons Bantwal, Mr. Urban DMello and others were present from outside parish. George Furtado (President ) gave a vote of thanks and John Mascarenhas (treasurer ) compered the programme. |
