PRESS RELEASE

 

 

The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA), Government of India is organizing the next Internship Programme for Diaspora Youth (IPDY) as part of the 4th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas from 19th December 2005 to 9th January 2006 in Bangalore/Hyderabad respectively.

 

                   The broad outline of the three-week long programme is as follows:

 

Week 1        :         Tourism & exposure to Karnataka (arts, culture,            business, IT, S&T)

 

Week 2        :         Internship with an organisation/Institute/corporate house in Hyderabad

 

Week 3        :         Attachment with the Centre for Study of Indian Diaspora, University of Hyderabad followed by participation at the 4th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas from 7-9 January 2006.

 

                   Eligibility criteria/procedure involved is as follows:

 

i)                   The overseas Indian students/young professionals should be   in the age group of 18-25 years;

 

ii)                 The prospective participant should apply to Embassy of India, Kuwait clearly mentioning the first name, middle name (and surname with Ms & Mr.); passport details, date of birth, nationality, educational qualifications, work experience if any and hobbies/interest;

 

iii)               Participant’s interest in a particular area of study or training (One week attachment Internship with concerned NGO/organisation will be arranged);

 

iv)                Participant to submit a medical card with details such as blood group, known allergies and any other relevant information relating to his/her health (participants are advised to take health insurance for the period of stay in India at their own cost);

 

v)                  Participants will have to pay for their international airfares and reach Bangalore latest by 18th December 2005 and plan to leave from Hyderabad on termination of the programme as from 10th January 2006.

 

vi)                Participants will be provided free lodge, board, internal transportation, internship fees and other charges by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and the State Governments;

 

vii)             Interested participants are expected to have distinguished himself/herself in a particular field and should have an abiding interest in India. Interested candidates are4 requested to forward their nominations addressed to : First Secretary (E&P), Embassy of India, Kuwait by 25th of October 2005. 

 

viii)           Participants, on return from India, are required to submit a report of the programme to the Embassy;
