Margao, Oct 19: Goa state chief Minister Pratapsing Rane will kick off
the 27th edition of Federation cup, which begin on Wednesday evening at
Nehru stadium - Margao.
Altogether sixteen teams are vying for the Federation Cup, out of which
six are from Goa itself. The Dempo SC vs HAL match will be held at 4.30
pm.
It is a golden opportunity for Goan football-lovers, as after 11 years
the Federation match is being held at Nehru stadium. No doubt that the
stadium will be full with soccer fans to see the skilful footwork of
the players, as Goa plays an important role in the field of football,
which is a major sport here.
Zee sports, the first Indian private sports channel, has taken
responsibility of multi media marketing and promotion campaign on their
shoulders, said Albert Colaco, secretary general of All India Football
Federation, while addressing the presspersons.
This year, the Federation Cup is expected to be a big draw with some of
the big names of the game participating in the tournament, with all the
matches being shown live, Colaco futher said.
The Zee sports channel will telecast all the sixteen matches of the
Federation cup. Those who sit at home will get the live coverage of all
the matches from Zee sports, whose accomplished technicians and
reporters' team has arrived in Goa and has set their studio and equipment.
The winner of tournament will take home Rs 12 lac, while the runners up
will win Rs 7 lac. The Federation will offer total prize money of Rs 26
lac for this tournament.
