Around 80 Goan footballers based in Bahrain, will be seen in action on the first day of Eid at the Bahrain Goans Seven a side football tournament. The tournament kicks off at 9.00 a.m. at the open grounds next to East Riffa stadium. The organisers have closed the entries with eight teams, so as to complete the event by 4.00 p.m.
Navelim, Vasco, Verna, Tivim, Canacona, Cansaulim, NHSC and Cyril Garage are the teams that will be divided in two groups and will play on league basis with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the knock-out stage. The finals are slated for 3.30 p.m. Besides the winners and runners up trophies, a fair play and player of the tournament award will also be given. The tournament is organised by the Bahrain Goans Football league committee and will be officiated by Sadanand Naik, ex-refree of the Goa Football Association with assistance from Vincent DÂ’Costa and Joy Corda.
