Mighty Brazil to play in UAE and Kuwait..!

The mighty Brazilian National Football Team will play friendly matches against the United Arab Emirates at Abu Dhabi, capital city of the country 12th of November. Soon after, on the 15th, the Brazilians play in Kuwait against Kuwait All Stars, a team which, according to the Kuwaiti press, will count on many Arab professional players.

Brazil play the National team of the United Arab Emirates and the Kuwait Sports Club for the first time.

Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira knows the opponents well -- Having extensive experience in the region. He has directed the National teams of both countries and won championships.

The Arabs are fanatics for football. "To see the Brazilian Team with all its stars playing in front of you for only AED 175 (US$ 47.65) is not expensive, because this is Brazil, five times world champions, "said the President of the Emirates Football Confederation, Yousuf Al Sarkal, according to a report on the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

According to WAM, the least expensive tickets will cost AED 175, the intermediary AED 250 and the most expensive AED 1,500.

In Kuwait the game will be sponsored by the Prime Minister H.E. Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who will watch the game. According to information from the Kuwait News Agency (Kuna), the President of Kuwait Sports Club, Marzouq Al-Ghanim, said that the friendly match will take place exactly on the 45th anniversary of his team.

Tickets in Kuwait are said to pre priced at KD10/- for the least expensive seats, KD20/- for the intermediary and KD30/- for the most expensive.

Carlos Alberto Parreira knows who he's playing...

Although Brazil is going to face the two teams for the first time, coach Parreira knows the football played in these two countries well. After all, he has managed the national teams in both countries and has won championships.

Parreira worked in Kuwait from 1976 to 1977 as a technical assistant and after that as coach, from 1978 to 1982. In these two periods the team was the vice champion of the Asia Cup in 1976; won the same championship and the Pre-Olympic Tournament in 1980; won the Gulf Cup in 1982; and came in second on the Asian Games in the same year.

Leading the Emirates team, Parreira worked from 1985 to 1988 and again during 1990. In 1985 he led the team to be vice champion of the Gulf Cup.

Also in the Arab world, the Brazilian coach led Saudi Arabian National Team between 1988 and 1990 and, later, in 1998. The team won the Asia Cup in 1988 under his command.

As the Brazilian National Team coach, Parreira won the top award at the United States World Cup in 1994, when Brazil won the championship for the fourth time.

The Brazilian team has never played against Kuwait and the Emirates, but played many times against other Arab teams. According to information from the CBF on the net, there were four games against Saudi Arabia, with four victories for Brazil; three matches against Algeria with two victories and a draw; against Egypt there were four games and four victories; against Morocco there were two games and two victories; and against Tunisia, Brazil played once and won.

Brazil is going into the friendly matches after a winning campaign in the South American play-offs for the World Cup. Brazil came in first place in the tournament.
