Panaji Oct 2: The primary draft of the delimitation of wards of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) is ready, and consist of altogether 30 wards, 10 of them reserved for women.
The Minister for Urban Development, Mr Joaquim Alemao today informed the reporters that the final draft would be prepared after inviting objections/ suggestions from the public. The director of the municipal administration, Mr Daulat Hawaldar was also present on the occasion.
Mr Hawaldar said that the report pertaining to the primary draft was recently submitted to the government.
The notification about the creation of the new wards is expected to be issued by the end of this week, while the notification as regards the final draft will be issued after taking into consideration, the objections and the suggestions from the public.
The Bhatlem ward with 878 voters is the smallest ward, while the Fondvem-Ribandar ward which includes 1,457 voters is the largest ward, after the delimitation process. The delimitation process has increased the number of wards from the existing 18 wards to 30 wards. Those wards reserved for ladies are ward nos, 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24 and 27.
The ward no 1, with 1,205 voters consists of part of the Dona Paula and Caranzalem areas, while ward no 2, having 1,058 voters includes parts of Dona Paula and Aivao village. The ward no 2 has 1,445 voters and consists of parts of Caranzalem area.
The ward nos 4 and 5 consist of parts of Caranzalem and Tonca, and have a total voters numbering 1,345 and 1,261, respectively. The ward no 6 is made up of parts of Miramar and Tonca and mainly comprises of ward no 8 of the erstwhile Panaji Municipal Council, with 983 voters.
The ward no 7 comprises of the St Inez and Tonca areas and has 892 voters, while the ward no 8 includes government employees colony at St Inez and has altogether 1,110 voters. The next ward is made up of part of Miramar area; it has 1,001 voters. The ward no 10 is formed by the Miramar area stretching from Indoor Stadium to Yatri Niwas and has 1,162 voters.
The ward 11, which includes the INOX Multiplex, Shanta building, Khoja Colony and Dayanand Bandodkar Road, has 944 voters. The ward no 12 with 956 voters comprises of the area housing Ramakant Apartments, Shivakripa building, Gharse Towers, Shankar Parvati building, Don Bosco School, Skylark building and part of the Campal area.
The ward nos 13, including Tamba Colony, Navketan, Greenland Housing Society and the St Inez Canal area, has 1,081 voters, while ward no 14 known as Alfonso de Albuquerque ward which is made up of Goa College of Pharmacy and Muslim Colony right up to the Gujarat Lodge, houses 1,441 voters. The ward no 15 comprising of the area that includes Manoshanti Hotel, Kamdhenu building, Sandeep Apartments, Samrat Hotel and Hotel Palacio de Goa extending up to Vathareshwar temple; it has 1,093 voters.
The ward nos 16 (1,448 voters) and 17 (1,316 voters) comprise of areas including parts of St Inez, Chincholem, Vodlebhat and Posrebhat, and regions of Bhatlem and Vodlebhat. The ward no 18 consists of parts of Bhatlem as well as Bhatlem Government Colony; it has altogether 878 voters.
The ward no 19 is made up of parts of Bhairo Portais and Bhatlem and houses 989 voters. The ward no 20 comprises of most of the Portais region and has 1,002 voters, while the ward no 21 has Altinho area, Goa Reserve Police Colony, Electricity Department Employees Colony, Government Polytechnic Colony, up to Ganesh Prasad building and has 1,143 voters.
The ward nos 22 (1,151 voters), 23 (1,224 voters) and 24 (1,025 voters) consist of CBI quarters, 31st January Road and part of Electricity Department Colony, Altinho, Precy building, Alto Guima region, Mhalowado and vicinity of St Sebastian Church, and Boca da Vaca region, Mahalaxmi temple region, Deulwada, Alfonso de Albuquerque Road and Dada Vaidya Road, respectively.
The ward no 25 includes area stretching from Kamat Hotel to Jumma Masjid, besides Rajdhani Hotel, Kundaikar Nagar, BJP headquarters, EDC building right up to the Baban Naik residence. It has 1,340 voters.
The ward no 26 with Kasturba Matoshri School and Progress High School area up to the Church of Immaculate Conception has 972 voters, while ward no 27 having Patto region, Rua de Ourem, region around the head office of the postal department, Mhamai Kamat residence, National Theatre area and Caculo house, under its jurisdiction, has 950 voters.
The ward no 28 is made up of Vithal temple, Neuginagar, Jairam Complex area and Sangam Lodge, with 908 voters. The next ward comprises of part of St Cruz constituency, Ribeiro Grande, Alto Gomes Pereira, Nobres Portais and part of Fondvem, having the total number of voters numbering 1,477.
The last ward is the major part of the Fondvem-Ribandar area which includes 1,457 voters.
