The theme of the Novena & Feast of St. Francis Xavier is: 'FAMILIES ENLIGHTENED & STRENGTHENED BY THE EUCHARIST, SENT TO BUILD A NEW SOCIETY'. On the occasion of the 5th birth centenary of St. Francis Xavier which occurs on 7th April 2006, the Novena theme shall try to develop the relationship that exists between the Holy Eucharist & the families in the context of the apostolic service rendered by St. Francis to the families under the inspiration of Christ, living in the Holy Eucharist. The theme for each day of the Novena is: 24th November: The Holy Eucharist helps the families to strengthen the triune sprituality through prayer. 25th November: The Holy Eucharist gives the family inspiration to a life of sacrifice & commitment. 26th November: The Holy Eucharist is the source of reconciliation & cooperation in the families. 27th November: The Holy Eucharist through the Liturgy makes the family aware of its responsibilities. 28th November: The Holy Eucharist through the Word of God, contributes to the spiritual & moral growth of the families. 29th November: The Holy Eucharist helps the families to bear patiently & lovingly the sufferings & pains of the sick & the old. 30th November: The Holy Eucharist is a God given power, to build a communion in the families. 1st December: The Holy Eucharist empowers the families to promote the culture of life & fight against all social evils. 2nd December: The Holy Eucharist gives the families the inner strength to bear witness to family values courageously. 3rd December: Families enlightened & strengthened by the Eucharist are now sent to build a New Society. Mass schedule: During the novena 24th November to 2nd December 2005: Morning: 6, 7,8.15 (Novena Mass), 9.30 & 10 AM Evenings: 3.45, 5.15 & 6.15 PM (This Mass is always in English). Note: On 25th November there will be no Mass at 10.30 AM. People should go for the Feast Mass of St. Catherine in the Se Cathedral. On the Feast Day- 3rd December 2005, Masses are as follows: Morning: 4,5,6,7,8,9 & 10.30 AM Ponitifical Feast Mass. Evening: 4,5 & 6 PM (last Mass in English) The Sacrament of Reconciliation: Confessions will be heard on the first floor corridor of the Basilica at the timings: Morning: 5.30-10.30 AM. Evening: 3-5.30 PM. NOTE: There will be no confessions on the Feast Day, 3rd December.Children who may need confessions are requested to go to their respective parishes to enable the needy adults to benefit from the guidance & healing from the Sacrament. Important Announcement: This year being dedicated to the Holy Eucharist, on the eve of the Novena (23rd November evening) at 3.30 PM there will be a Solemn Mass, followed by Adoration, procession & Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
