NATIONAL AWARDS FOR CHILD WELFARE FOR 2003 AND 2004 TO BE PRESENTED ON 14TH NOVEMBER

 The Human Resource Development Minister, Shri Arjun Singh will present the National Awards to Child Welfare for the years 2003 and 2004 to 16 awardees.  The awards are presented every year to three individual who have done the best work in the cause of children and five institutions that have done the best work in any branch of child welfare. The award for every individual shall consist of a cash prize of Rs. one lakh and a citation and to each institution a cash prize of Rs. three lakhs and a citation. The names of the awardees for the year 2003 are as follows:

Institutions Pragathi, Andhra Pradesh; Child Concern (Organisation for Child Development, mental health and rehabilitation of handicaps), Bihar; SOS Children’s Villages of India, New Delhi; Ashraya Children’s Home, Karnataka; and Rural Health Organization, Manipur.

Individuals

            Mohd. Abdul Aziz Choudhury, Assam; Shri Apollo Singh Rajkumar, Manipur;  and Smt. Mohini A Naik, Mangalore, Dakshin Karnataka Dist.

The names of the awardees for the year 2004 are as follows

Institutions

Shri Digambar Jain Adarsh Mahila Sanskrit PG Mahavidyalaya Samiti, Rajasthan; Kalaiselvi Karunalaya Social Welfare Society, Chennai; St. Joseph’s Charity Institute, Veerapandianpatnam, Tamil Nadu; Liberal Association for Movement of People, Kolkata, West Bengal; and Child in Need Institute,  Distt. 24 Pargana, West Bengal.

Individuals

Sister Dr. Mary Litty, Kerala; Reverend Dr. Khuanga, Mizoram; and Smt. Inderjit Khurana, Orissa.
