Kuwait (Nov 11): DAAIZ.COM celebrated a fabulous event 'DAAIZ DAY 2005' on 11th November 2005 at Carmel School Auditorium Kaitan, Kuwait, in which the releasing of DIVO DAAIZ Special Issue 2005 and Kavithapaatt Vol-1 too place.

The event began at 6:15pm, Veena Menezes - a compere briefed the objective and mission of DAAIZ and DAAIZ Day mentioning DAAIZ is neither an association nor a group of any region, but a progressive literary lovers. Nitin Castelino, one of the co-ordinators of DAAIZ DIVO Special issue in his welcome speech highlighted the efforts of DAAIZ in defining new paths for service through literature.
Nitin Castelino and Ida D'Silva Paladka - the other co-ordinator of DIVO DAAIZ Special Issue then escorted the chief guests to the dais. Mr.Reavan D'Souza - the Editor of The Times Kuwait presided over the event and Mr. Pascal B Pinto - Konkani supporter and representative of Kannik Konkani Fortnightly was the chief guest.
Mr.Reavan D'Souza inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. Ida D'Silva introduced both the books and the mission of these books. DIVO DAAIZ is the first special issue in the history of konkani with 300 pages.
Kavithapaatt is the first book of konkani that consists of study articles on konkani poetry that were presented during monthly poetry workshops at Kuwait. She also highlighted the value of such an objective, which was applauded by the crowd.
Mr.Valley Quadras, the honorary editor of DIVO DAAIZ Special Issue and the Editor of DAAIZ.COM escorted the most senior konkani writer in Kuwait and one of the Senior Editorial Board Members Mr.Gibba Kulshekar who released DIVO DAAIZ Special Issue 2005. Mr.Pascal Pinto released Kavithapaatt Vol-1.
Valley Quadras in his speech mentioned that writing shouldnt be just a hobby, but a responsibility. Having said it is responsibility; it is our primary duty to do creative work by not blaming the darkness but by lighting a candle. He also said DAAIZ is not any association, however we defined an objective and sought the support of like minded writers, people and supported of various parts of the world, whose support and encouragement made it possible to fulfill this mission. He also said that it is just the beginning, DAAIZ will walk positively towards its goal with many such objectives and vision.
Mr.Reavan D'Souza in his speech appreciated the efforts of DAAIZ.COM for taking such an initiative. In the second part of the event, conducted by Priya Sequeira Ferar, three of the personalities Mr.Lawrence D'Souza (MD-Caesars Group of Hotels), Bro. Paulose (Founder - Seon Ashram Trust) and Mr. Vincent Noronha (Social Worker) were being felicitated by Mr. Elias Sanctis (President of Tulukoota, Kuwait) for their wonderful contribution to the society in their fields. Mr. Lawrence D'Souza has been a great supporter for konkani and humanitarian activities, Bro.Paulose has established and dedicated himself to the needy and downtrodden people of our community, and Mr. Vincent Noronha has been known for his social work for any needy brethren. Mr. Pascal Pinto received the honor on behalf of Lawrence D'Souza. The honor included a memento (Manpotr) and a Shawl.
Speaking on this occasion Bro.Paulose hailed the efforts of DAAIZ team for giving such recognition and thanked all the donors, supporters, well wishers who have been a great help for him to carry on his mission.
Mr. Elias Sanctis in his speech congratulated DAAIZ.COM for defining new paths for creative work. He also mentioned that a writer can not just write but also action very good things like this particular cause. He hailed the leadership qualities, humble nature of valley Quadras, also mentioned that Valley Quadras is not just takes initiative but has the ability to implement them to its perfection. He also appreciated Melvin Vas and DAAIZ members. He wished DAAIZ team to carry on their mission with vision for creating more and more such histories.
Mrs. Helen Pinto (PRO - Tulukoota Kuwait) presented a bouquet of flowers and a copy of the special issue (Maan prathi) to all the Co-Sponsors.
In the last part of the event- Entertainment, a play 'GOONDA' (Based on the short story of Valley Quadras) written and directed by Melvin J Vas Kelarai was being presented by DAAIZ team. A complete new team entertained the full pack crowd who appreciated and hailed the acting skills of each actor and actress.
Antony Menezes, Veena Menezes, Reena Quadros, Kiran Lobo, Jerald D'Souza, Valerian D'Souza, Cyril Peris, Pascal B Pinto acted.
After the play, Melvin thanked all those worked hard to make this play a most memorable one, and introduced all the actors and actresses to the audience. Mr. David D'Souza, a senior artist in Kuwait presented 'certificate' to each actor and hailed the efforts of the actors.
Mr. Leslie Noronha initiated bookstall, Jomel Bondel presented a beautiful presentation, and the sound was arranged by Anand Sounds, The stage was set-up by David D'Souza.
