Navelim Youth Centre (NYC) - Kuwait will celebrate the Feast of our Lady of Rosary, patroness of the Club on 17th November 2005 (Thursday) with a thanksgiving mass 6:30 pm at the Holy Family Cathedral, followed by a get-together at Village Inn Restaurant - Kuwait City.
The Feast of Our Lady of Rosary at Navelim Church (Goa) is celebrated on the third Wednesday of November. A nine-day Novena precedes the feast day. On the first day of the Novena, according to tradition, a statue of Our lady of Fatima is brought to the church by a procession from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel, Telaulim.
There is a three-day fair following the feast day that is attended by thousands of people. This fair is one of the biggest fairs in the State of Goa. The people of Navelim celebrate this feast in a grand way and the whole Village wears a festive look.

As of the date the church has altogether six altars. Besides the main altar dedicated to Our Lady of Rosary, the side altars are dedicated to Our Lady of Good Delivery, Saint Anna, Sacred Heart of Jesus, and Our Lady of Piety.
The main altar is richly decorated with carved wooden trelliswork painted in gold. Recently, between the main altar and the pews, an ornamentally decorated altar in wood carving, depicting the Last supper has been installed. |

The outer façade of the church both Baroque and Manueline in style has an image of Nossa Senhora do Rosario installed at a height as if keeping watch over her domain.
This façade for unknown reasons had only the north tower and housed the bell brought from Europe in 1941. However, the south tower was completed in recent years - (1990) by the then Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Jose Roberto Vaz.
Facing the church is a massive modern day cross offered in memory of Ten Saude Furtado and is flanked by three other monuments.
One of the monuments is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the other two to the great sons of Navelim soil viz. Parliamentarian, poet and writer of eminence, Dr. Francisco Luis Gomes, and his father Dr. Francisco Salvador Gomes, Administrator of Salcete Communidades. |
