Margao, Nov 15: At an exciting and colourful event of heart-pulsating music held at Go-Karting Track-Nuvem on Sunday evening, which was organized by Kingfisher, to choose the Voice of Goa, Clinton Fernandes, a student
from Chowgule college snatched the title. Cinton Fernandes Around 150 music-lovers had applied to participate in this competition. In the last 60 days time, 10 auditions were taken and two semifinal rounds were held to shortlist the participants. At last, 21 contestants were left in the race. In the final, Clinton Fernades was chosen as the 'Voice of Goa' and Aegima Fernandes, daughter of well-known Tiatrist Roseferns, as regional voice winner. Vaishali Samant (in red), with VJ Archana, singing 'Undir Mhojea Mama' In the regional round, 17 contestant sang the regional songs. Four of the contestants did not perform in this round. But in the second round all 21 participated and performed their songs. After the second,
round 15 contestants were eliminated, leaving the final six contestants vying for voice of Goa tittle. Miss Goa 2005 Janice Sobti also took part in this competition but could not win the title. In the third round, it was mandatory to sing an English song. Some of the contestant sang slow-beat songs and the winner Clinton Fernades rocked people by singing the Brian Adams hit, Summer of 69"track. African dancers entertaining the audience The venue of the event resounded with applause from the audience regularly, when Clinton performed on the stage. Also to fill the gap between rounds, V channel super-singer Ravindra Upadhya, DJ Notorious, Oliver Sean, Aika Dajiba" fame singer Vaishali Samant and Goan Melody Queen Lorna performed at that time and made audience to be on their feet, dancing all the way. Both winners said that they
wanted to be accomplished musicians, for which they would struggle and achieve their aim in future. Therefore hey would start learning the notations of music very soon, they said. Aegima Fernandes UB group officials Govind Tiwari and Samrat Chadda resented both winners prize of Rs 50 thousand. In addition, Clinton won a one-year contract with Kingfisher. Vaishali Samant sang a remix song from her new album, which is based on the famous Goan Konkani folk song, Undir mhojea mama, ani hanv sangta tuka. which is sung in three languages Konkani, Marathi and Hindi. After the winners were declared, Melody Queen Lorna sang a popular hit, Kalliz Khuxen Bhorlem" Melody Queen Lorna The talents were evaluated by judges
Vaishali Samant and Ravindra Upadhya. The event was anchored by VJ Archana from Mumbai. The event concluded by 1.00 am in the wee hours of Monday. Yet, for the audience the event was not over, as most of them were still dancing until much later. |
